Dr. Kirsten Knowles, affectionately called Dr. K, is an author, speaker, education consultant, and passionate advocate for equitable education. With nearly 20 years of experience spanning K-12 and higher education, she has dedicated her career to transforming educational systems, increasing access for underserved communities, and developing strategic solutions that drive institutional success.
As a trusted education consultant, Dr. K partners with schools, districts, higher education institutions, and non-profit organizations to develop strategic plans, optimize enrollment forecasting, and implement literacy and college readiness programs. Her expertise in enrollment management, strategic marketing, and institutional planning has helped organizations increase student access, retention, and long-term sustainability.

Dr. K has successfully increased student enrollment at both the K-12 and postsecondary levels, generating over $125 million in revenue through strategic recruitment and retention initiatives. She has streamlined enrollment and admissions processes, leveraging data analytics to enhance forecasting accuracy and inform decision-making. Her expertise extends to developing and executing targeted marketing and communications strategies, ensuring alignment with institutional goals.
A trusted advisor to education-focused organizations, Dr. K has worked closely with boards, leadership teams, and community stakeholders to drive engagement and support mission-driven initiatives. She has also been instrumental in securing funding opportunities, building partnerships, and advocating for policies that promote educational access and equity.
A fierce advocate for educational equity, Dr. K’s work focuses on ensuring that students—especially first-generation, international, and historically underserved learners—have access to quality education, resources, and opportunities. Her research and leadership are driven by her belief that education is the most powerful tool for breaking cycles of poverty and creating generational change.
In addition to her consulting work, Dr. K is the author of a children’s book series that brings fun, relatable characters to life while teaching valuable life lessons along the way. Through engaging storytelling, her books inspire young readers to navigate challenges, develop character, embrace their differences, and build confidence in their own unique journeys.As a dynamic speaker, Dr. K has delivered powerful talks on education reform, leadership, school choice, and student success. When she’s not working, Dr. K enjoys traveling, gardening, and making natural skincare products. She’s an avid reader, always eager to dive into books on history, leadership, and education. She also enjoys spending time with family and giving back to the community through mentorship and advocacy.

Dr. Kirsten Knowles, Ed.D.
Our Founder and Consultant
Dr. Kirsten Knowles is the founder of Archipelago (ärkəˈpeləˌɡō) Education Consulting, LLC, a consulting firm that helps students and their families during the process of their journey to college; and institutions on establishing or improving programs or cultures within their organization.
HEr Accomplishments include:
- Leadership positions in American colleges admissions departments.
- Advisor to International Agents on the private school admissions placement process.
- Speaker at National Conference on methods of establishing a successful International Program within an educational setting.
- Leadership position in a private Global K-12 school.
- Training admissions personnel at the secondary and tertiary level on effective practices and the recruitment of missions-fit students.
- Increasing the diversity at a private K-12 school, ranking that school in the top 15% of the most diverse schools in America.
Dr. Kirsten holds a Bachelor of Science degree in International Business from the University of Central Florida, and Masters in Business Administration from Keller Graduate School of Management, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership with a focus in Organizational Justice, Equity and Inclusion from Western Illinois University.
Dr. Kirsten has traveled extensively in her roles in admissions leadership, and most recently visited the United Kingdom, China, Germany, Italy, South Korea, and Bermuda to name a few. Her favorite place to travel however, will always be the Caribbean, as Dr. Kirsten was born, raised and received her early education in The Bahamas.
Dr. Kirsten is passionate about helping people and organizations find their own path in the world of education. She believes that each person and organization should have a unique experience attaining their educational goals, and in the process, she takes on the role as mentor, coach, advisor, cheerleader, and sometimes even arbitrator.
Dr. Kirsten lives in the United States, but travels often to the Caribbean and her home country of The Bahamas. In her very limited spare time, she enjoys cooking island food, traveling, gardening, family time, and creating unique bath and spa products.
